University KinderCare is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Lead Toddler Teacher to join our early childhood education team on the campus of the University of Minnesota. This vital role focuses on nurturing young learners through engaging curriculum, meaningful relationships, and a warm, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
As a Lead Toddler Teacher, you will guide classroom activities, foster toddler development, and support each child’s social-emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. The ideal candidate is collaborative, compassionate, and committed to maintaining the highest standards in early childhood education while following NAEYC standards, Parent Aware expectations, and Minnesota DHS Rule 3 regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that promote:
- Early literacy
- Physical development
- Social-emotional learning
- Creative exploration
- Lead daily classroom routines and activities while encouraging curiosity, independence, positive behavior, and confidence in toddlers.
- Create and maintain a nurturing, inclusive, and responsive classroom environment that supports early intervention strategies and addresses individual developmental needs through tailored educational approaches.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom aligned with best practices in early childhood education.
- Collaborate with families by sharing developmental progress, conducting parent-teacher conferences twice yearly (and as needed), and partnering on strategies to support children’s growth and success.
- Manage daily care routines, including:
- Diapering
- Feeding
- Nap time
- Classroom transitions
- Support fellow educators by sharing knowledge, experience, and effective classroom management techniques related to toddler care and development.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with toddlers in an early childhood classroom setting.
- Strong knowledge of classroom management strategies and child development practices.
- Experience developing and implementing curriculum that supports literacy, early math, physical development, and behavioral guidance.
- Familiarity with early intervention practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage with children, families, and team members.
- CDA required or preferred; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.

Pay: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour
