We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Lead Mitigation Technician to join our Fire, Water, and Storm Mitigation Division. This position is ideal for a restoration professional who takes pride in helping customers recover from unexpected property damage while leading crews and delivering exceptional workmanship.
As a Lead Technician, you will oversee mitigation projects, train and mentor team members, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.

Position Summary
The Lead Mitigation Technician is responsible for managing emergency response and mitigation activities related to water, fire, smoke, mold, and storm damage losses. This individual serves as the on-site leader, ensuring work is performed safely, accurately, and professionally while maintaining excellent communication with customers, project managers, insurance representatives, and office staff.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead and supervise mitigation crews on residential and commercial restoration projects
- Coordinate daily project activities to ensure efficient production and quality workmanship
- Train and mentor technicians on restoration procedures, equipment usage, and company standards
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within scope
Emergency Services & Mitigation
- Perform water extraction, structural drying, demolition, board-up, and emergency stabilization services
- Conduct fire, smoke, soot, and storm damage mitigation activities
- Set up, monitor, and document drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, and air scrubbers
- Perform moisture inspections, moisture mapping, and daily monitoring
- Maintain quality control throughout all phases of mitigation
Documentation & Customer Service
- Maintain accurate job documentation including photos, moisture readings, daily logs, and scope notes
- Utilize restoration software and mobile applications for project tracking and reporting
- Communicate professionally with customers, adjusters, and project managers
- Educate customers on mitigation processes and set clear expectations
Safety & Equipment
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
- Ensure proper maintenance and care of company vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Follow IICRC standards and restoration industry best practices
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in water, fire, storm, or disaster restoration
- Previous crew leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of water mitigation, structural drying, and restoration equipment
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to participate in an on-call emergency response rotation
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in physically demanding environments
- Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
Preferred
- IICRC Certifications (WRT, ASD, AMRT, FSRT, or equivalent)
- Experience with restoration software such as DASH and Xactimate
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience working with insurance carriers and adjusters
Service Area
Projects are located throughout Lake and McHenry Counties. Candidates should be able to respond to emergency service calls and travel throughout the service area as needed.
