Afrirent Auto is seeking 2 temporary laminators to perform the complete lamination functions on truck trailer panels in accordance with Afrirent’s and customers’ quality standards and requirements.
EDUCATION:
- Grade 12
EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years’ laminating experience in a panel beating/refurbishment environment
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Performs the full laminator functions on truck trailer panels
- Applies lacquers and waxes to mold surfaces to facilitate the assembly and removal of laminated parts
- Applies layers of plastic resin to mold surfaces prior to placement of fiberglass mats, repeating layers until products have the desired thicknesses and plastics have set
- Cures materials by setting at room temperature, placing under heat lamps or baking in ovens
- Inspects, cleans and assembles molds before beginning the laminating work
- Masks off mold areas, which are not to be laminated, using cellophane, wax paper, masking tape or special sprays containing mold-release substances
- Mixes catalysts into resins and saturates cloths and mats with mixtures, using brushes
- Pats or presses layers of saturated mats or cloths into place on molds, using brushes / hands and smooths out wrinkles and air bubbles with hands or squeegees
- Releases air bubbles and smooths seams using rollers
- Repairs / modifies damaged or defective glass-fibre parts, checking thicknesses, densities and contours to ensure a close fit after repair.
- Sprays chopped fiberglass, resins and catalysts onto prepared molds or dyes using pneumatic spray guns with chopper attachments
- Maintains the laminating facilities and equipment in good working order at all times
- Identifies and reports on non-conforming tools, equipment and material and issues to the National Refurbishment Manager
- Utilises equipment, tools and materials in conformance with all specifications
- Monitors utilisation of laminating equipment, materials and tools to ensure that adequate levels are maintained at all times
- Implements effective and hygienic housekeeping activities at all times
- Adherence to all safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) policies, procedures and requirements in the workshops
- Implements consistent safety protocols and procedures
- Identifies and reports all maintenance and repair requirements of laminating equipment and tools
Pay: Up to R10 500,00 per month
