Job Description:
We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness, and ensure the kitchen operates efficiently while following food safety and hygiene standards.
Requirements:
- Grade 10 or Matric is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning food.
- Keep the kitchen, work surfaces, and equipment clean and sanitized.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
- Store food items correctly and monitor stock levels.
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks.
- Dispose of waste according to health and safety procedures.
- Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
