Job Purpose
The Key Accounts Manager is responsible for managing, growing, and retaining strategic customer relationships while ensuring exceptional service delivery. The role focuses on maintaining strong partnerships with key clients, identifying growth opportunities, resolving service-related concerns, and driving revenue through account development and customer retention initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management
- Manage and maintain relationships with assigned key accounts.
- Conduct regular client visits, reviews, and business meetings.
- Develop a thorough understanding of customer operations and logistics requirements.
- Ensure customer expectations and service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently achieved.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key clients.
Customer Retention & Growth
- Identify opportunities to increase volumes and revenue within existing accounts.
- Prepare and present proposals, pricing, and service solutions.
- Cross-sell and promote MTE Xpress service offerings.
- Monitor account performance and implement improvement plans where required.
- Build long-term strategic partnerships with customers.
Service Delivery & Operations Liaison
- Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, and Branch Management to ensure service excellence.
- Escalate and resolve customer concerns promptly.
- Monitor delivery performance and service levels.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented where service failures occur.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate customer records and account information.
- Prepare monthly account reviews and performance reports.
- Track customer volumes, revenue, and profitability.
- Update CRM systems (if any) and sales reports regularly.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to management.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
- Diploma or Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, Logistics, or a related field will be advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in Key Account Management, Business Development, or Sales.
- Experience within the Courier, Logistics, Transport, or Supply Chain industry is preferred.
- Proven track record in customer retention and account growth.
