Duties/Pligte
- Conducting preliminary assessments of complaints, including gathering and reviewing evidence, interviewing complainants and respondents, and drafting investigation reports.
- Monitoring investigation progress and ensuring compliance with University policies and legislation.
- Providing legal advice and drafting legal correspondence and advisory opinions.
- Designing and delivering workshops on discrimination, harassment, gender-based violence, and reporting mechanisms.
- Facilitating mediation in appropriate cases using accredited mediation practices.
- Maintaining secure case records and ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
Qualifications:
- Relevant LLB degree or equivalent.
Experience:
- At least three years’ post-article experience or four years’ relevant legal work experience.
- Experience in interpreting legislation and handling cases involving discrimination, harassment or victimisation.
- Experience in legal research, policy review and advisory functions.
Skills and competencies:
- Strong investigative, analytical and legal research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to equality and non-discrimination.
Recommendation/Aanbeveling
- Mediation accreditation (Law Society of South Africa or equivalent) will be advantageous.
