About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented **Junior Technician** to join our established team in Cape Town. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to build a career in technical drafting and design support within architecture, engineering, or construction projects. You will work under the guidance of senior designers and engineers in a collaborative office environment.
Key Responsibilities
– Convert rough sketches, specifications, notes, and measurements into accurate 2D technical drawings (and basic 3D models where required) using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
– Prepare detailed plans, elevations, sections, layouts, and diagrams for building, civil, mechanical, or product projects.
– Input precise dimensions, tolerances, materials, and annotations while ensuring compliance with project standards and company drafting guidelines.
– Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency; make revisions based on feedback or design changes.
– Organize, file, and maintain CAD files, drawing libraries, and project documentation.
– Assist team members by plotting/printing drawings, updating templates, and performing basic file management tasks.
– Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to clarify requirements and resolve any discrepancies.
Requirements
– Valid South African driver’s license (essential – must be able to commute reliably to our Cape Town office).
– Must reside in Cape Town or the immediate surrounding areas (no relocation assistance provided).
– Certificate, diploma, or relevant qualification in CAD, Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
– Basic to intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); experience with Revit, SolidWorks, or Civil 3D is a strong advantage.
– Strong attention to detail, good spatial awareness, and ability to follow instructions precisely.
– Excellent organizational skills and a proactive attitude toward learning.
– Good communication skills (both written and verbal) in English.
– Previous CAD experience
