Role Description
Our client is currently a credible Junior Accountant who will support the Finance & Accounts team by handling routine financial tasks, maintaining proper records, and assisting with basic reporting. This role is ideal for a detail-driven individual who is building a career in accounting and is willing to learn through hands-on exposure in a structured environment. The position focuses on assisting with reconciliations, transaction posting, expense tracking, and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Posting & Record Management
- Accurately post daily financial transactions into the accounting system.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial files and documentation.
- Support the preparation of periodic financial summaries.
- Assist in maintaining fixed asset records and supporting documents.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Tasks
- Assist with the processing of vendor invoices and preparation of payment lists.
- Support the invoicing of customers and monitor outstanding balances.
- Help follow up on payments and maintain basic credit control schedules.
- Carry out monthly reconciliations of supplier and customer accounts.
Inventory & Stock Accounting Support
- Help monitor stock movements and ensure accurate entry of inventory transactions.
- Assist in verifying sales and stock reports from various channels.
- Support checks on product costing and basic COGS updates.
Tax & Regulatory Support
- Help prepare schedules for VAT, WHT, PAYE, and Pension filings.
- Maintain proper documentation for compliance and audit activities.
- Assist in responding to audit queries by providing required information.
Cash & Expense Support
- Assist with petty cash management and preparation of petty cash replenishment reports.
- Process staff expense claims and ensure proper documentation.
- Track daily operational expenses for review by the Senior Accountant.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Adhere to internal accounting procedures and reporting standards.
- Flag inconsistencies or incomplete documentation for review.
- Support the Senior Accountant in implementing best practices for record-keeping.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant accounting experience, preferably in a structured organization.
- Professional certification, such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent, is required.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar).
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial documentation.
- Good communication and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work under supervision and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Residing in or near Ikeja is preferred for ease of commute.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in Recording and Reconciling Financial Transactions
- Knowledge of Accounting Principles, Standards, and Practices
Salary Range
N250,000.00 (depending on prroficiency and experience level)
