Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in the City of Johannesburg for an IT/Telecoms Technician. We are seeking a skilled and versatile IT & Telecoms Support Technician to support enterprise systems across our client base. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with specialised hands-on experience in Hosted PBX systems, Microsoft Services (Cloud and On-Premise), and Mikrotik networking infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of both voice communication systems and traditional IT environments.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
- CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications (Mandatory).
- Equivalent Microsoft certifications (Highly Advantageous).
- Mikrotik certification (e.g., MTCNA) is preferred.
- Matric Certificate / Grade 12.
Technical Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in an IT Support / Telecoms Technician role.
- Proven, hands-on experience with Hosted PBX (or similar IP-PBX systems) and VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP).
- Solid experience managing Microsoft Services (O365, Windows Server, AD).
- Strong practical experience configuring and troubleshooting Mikrotik hardware.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Voice & Telephony Support (Hosted PBX)
- Install, configure, commission, and maintain Hosted PBX systems.
- Configure extensions, SIP trunks, IVR, voicemail, call routing, and hunt groups.
- Diagnose and resolve voice quality issues, call drops, signalling faults, and endpoint hardware failures.
- Integrate telephony systems with existing LAN/WAN infrastructure and VoIP gateways.
- Coordinate with telecom service providers for SIP provisioning and issue escalation.
Systems Administration (Microsoft Services)
- Manage, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Support Windows Server environments (2012 and up), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Hyper-V.
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing both hardware and software concerns.
- Manage regular system upgrades, patch management, and automated backups/disaster recovery processes.
Networking & Infrastructure (Mikrotik)
- Configure, install, and maintain Mikrotik routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Implement and troubleshoot networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, subnetting, and port forwarding.
- Apply general firewall rule configurations and ensure the security and integrity of the IT infrastructure.
- Familiarity with editing and managing DNS records (CNAME, TXT, MX).
General IT & Service Delivery
- Provide professional on-site and remote technical support.
- Manage service requests efficiently through the ticketing system, ensuring effective task prioritisation.
- Maintain accurate system documentation, service reports, and network architecture diagrams.
- Liaise with vendors, OEMs, and senior engineers for advanced escalations.
