SUMMARY:

Job Summary

The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support, maintaining IT systems and equipment, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the company’s technology infrastructure. The successful candidate will assist with troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining networks, installing systems, and supporting users across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support

  • Provide daily IT support to staff and users
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, email, printer, and network issues
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals
  • Assist users with system access and password resets
  • Respond to IT support requests promptly and professionally

Hardware & Software Maintenance

  • Install and update operating systems and software applications
  • Perform routine maintenance on IT equipment
  • Diagnose and repair hardware faults where possible
  • Set up workstations, devices, and user accounts for new employees
  • Maintain IT asset and equipment inventory

Network Support

  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining company networks and internet connectivity
  • Support Wi-Fi, routers, switches, and network devices
  • Escalate major network or server issues when necessary
  • Assist with backups and system recovery processes

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure antivirus and security software are updated
  • Follow company IT security policies and procedures
  • Assist in protecting company data and systems from security threats
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information and user data

Documentation & Administration

  • Record IT issues, solutions, and maintenance activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems and configurations
  • Assist with procurement and setup of IT equipment when required

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements

  • Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in an IT support or technician role
  • Valid driver’s license advantageous
  • Relevant IT certifications advantageous (CompTIA A+, N+, Microsoft, Cisco)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems
  • Experience with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365
  • Basic networking knowledge (routers, switches, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
