Position: Field Services IT Technician
Location: Durban Area
We are seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized IT Technician to join our growing Field Services team. In this role, you will provide hands-on technical support to our clients, ensuring systems run smoothly and efficiently. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, implementing solutions, and maintaining IT infrastructure both remotely and on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform system updates and operating system upgrades.
- Monitor and maintain networking equipment and servers.
- Assist in designing, implementing, and supporting new software and features.
- Ensure network availability and security.
- Troubleshoot system and network errors.
- Provide helpdesk support via phone, remote access, and site visits.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Configure and maintain user equipment and software.
- Set up equipment for new users and perform system onboarding.
- Install, test, and monitor servers, firewalls, and software updates.
- Conduct data backups and system restores.
- Implement network improvements as required.
- Support servers, LAN/WAN technologies, computer repairs, software, virus protection, Wi-Fi, and related systems.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong, professional personality — organized, polite, and dependable.
- Excellent verbal, written, and reporting communication skills.
- Confident telephone and customer interaction skills.
- Education: Minimum of a high school certificate.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or similar (e.g., MCSE).
- Cloud experience: Required – Office 365 (MS-100, MS-101, or MS-201), Azure.
- Proven experience as a help desk technician, computer technician, or IT support professional.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, diverse environment.
- Goal-oriented, proactive team player.
- Physically able to stand, bend, squat, and lift IT equipment.
Additional Requirements
- Previous experience in IT field support and customer service is essential.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle required.
- Traceable references.
- Shift work may be required.
