Job Advert Summary

The Technical Program Manager is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of, and migration to, iTOO’s new commercially procured core insurance platform. This includes coordination and planning of the following activities but not limited to:

• Analysis & Design (Including Target Architecture)
• Development (Core)
• Development (Integration)
• Testing
• Training & Adoption
• Data Migration
• Reporting & Dashboarding
• Decommissioning of Legacy Systems

Further the role is responsible for:

• Infusion of the Company Culture into The Project
• Project Knowledge Persistence
• Ensuring Cross-Team Collaboration
• Ownership & Management of the Project Plan
• Ownership of the Risk Register
• Continuous Project Communication
• Financial Cost Tracking

Required Knowledge and Experience

• A minimum of 5 years as a Technical Program Manager / Senior Project Manager / Delivery Lead in a technology environment, managing initiatives from inception to closeout, preferably within Financial Services. Budgets previously managed should exceed R50m.
• Experience within Insurance advantageous – specifically within insurance platform implementations (eg: Duck Creek, Guidewire, Sapiens etc)
• Proven experience delivering legacy modernisation / core platform replatforming (e.g., policy, claims, billing, underwriting, integration layers) with a track record of managing technical risk and business continuity.
• Experience planning and executing data migration and cutover activities, including reconciliation, rollback planning, and (where needed) parallel run/dual-write strategies.
• Sound understanding of short-term insurance
• Working knowledge of both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
• Strong understanding of modern SDLC practices (CI/CD, environments, automated testing, release governance) and non-functional requirements (performance, resilience, security, observability) in regulated environments.
• Experience working across multiple engineering squads and shared services (architecture, data, security, QA, operations), coordinating dependencies and integrated releases.

Educational Requirements

• Matric
• Honours Degree (NQF8) in a relevant field (Masters preferred)
• A recognized Project Management qualification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
