IT Manager (Entry-Level) – Construction & Project Manager Focus Jobs in Northport, AL at General Contractor

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable IT Manager (1–5 years’ experience) to oversee day-to-day IT operations while developing a strong understanding of the construction industry and project management workflows. This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who is eager to grow beyond traditional IT and contribute to operational success across both technology and construction project environments.

IT Management & Support

· Manage and maintain company IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud systems, and end-user devices

· Provide hands-on technical support for hardware, software, and network issues

· Ensure cybersecurity best practices are implemented and maintained

· Administer user accounts, permissions, and data access controls

· Monitor system performance and implement improvements where needed

· Manage vendor relationships, software licenses, and IT budget tracking

Managed Service Provider (MSP) Coordination

· Coordinate and act as the primary point of contact for the 3rd Party Managed Service Provider (MSP)

· Oversee MSP performance, ensuring service levels, response times, and deliverables meet expectations

· Collaborate with MSP on infrastructure projects, system upgrades, and security initiatives

· Review MSP recommendations and align them with company goals and budget

Systems & Process Innovation

· Document and analyze current operational and project management workflows.

· Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, and data visibility through technology.

· Research and evaluate new software, automation tools, and digital processes to improve operational efficiency

· Assist with implementation, testing, training, and adoption of new systems. (ERP, project management tools, document control systems)

· Develop and maintain IT documentation, policies, and disaster recovery plans

Construction Industry & Project Management Support

· Learn construction workflows, terminology, and project lifecycle processes

· Learn project manager skills and processes, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination

· Support field teams with technology tools (mobile devices, job site connectivity, software platforms)

· Assist in implementing and maintaining construction/project management software (e.g., Procore, Autodesk, or similar)

· Collaborate with project managers to improve data tracking, reporting, and communication systems

· Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and technology alignment

Qualifications – Required

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

· 1–5 years of IT experience in a professional environment

· Strong knowledge of Windows/Mac operating systems

· Network fundamentals (TCP/IP, routers, switches)

· Cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure, or similar)

· Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

Qualifications – Preferred

· Experience working with or coordinating external IT vendors or service providers

· Exposure to construction, engineering, or field-based environments

· Familiarity with managed service provider (MSP) models and service level agreements (SLAs)

· Familiarity with project management tools or methodologies

· Basic understanding of cybersecurity frameworks

· Experience supporting mobile and remote work environments

· Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI-powered productivity tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar platforms.

· Understanding how AI and automation technologies can be applied to improve business processes, knowledge management, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience and a comprehensive benefits package (health, retirement, PTO, etc.).

Pay: $50,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
