Role Summary
Reporting to the Chief of Partnerships and Business Development, the intern will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of Partnerships and Business Development (PBD) within a non-governmental organization (NGO) setting. This internship is designed to provide one with exposure to various functions, including partner and donor intelligence, partner engagement, donor reporting, events management, and database management. You will work closely with the Partnerships and Business Development team to support the organization's mission and contribute to the overall success of the PBD work.
Key Measures of Performance
The performance of this role holder will be assessed on the basis of the achievements made on:
- Timely and reliable support to the PBD team's administrative and logistical needs.
- Proactive gathering and synthesis of donor intelligence.
- Effective coordination and documentation of partner engagements.
- Accurate proofreading, editing, and organized archiving of donor reports.
- Consistent updating and communication of PBD trackers to support team follow-up.
- High-quality preparation of meeting materials and presentations.
- Efficient coordination and support of events, including invitations and logistics.
- Up-to-date and well-maintained contact database for partner management.
- Organized and accessible SharePoint file management for all documentation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the PBD team members in day-to-day administrative and logistics-related tasks.
- Donor Intelligence gathering – Acquire and analyze information and intelligence on donor funding opportunities, policies, priorities, and trends, and subsequently, develop and/or update donor strategies and profiles to improve AGRA’s knowledge of donors’ strategies and policies and to better direct its business development efforts.
- Partner engagement – Support in the initiation and organization of partner meetings and meeting documentation.
- Donor Reporting – Support donor report proofreading, editing, and archiving.
- Maintaining Trackers – ensure that all relevant PBD-related trackers (opportunity tracker, meeting action tracker, Audit action trackers, etc.) are regularly updated, and follow-up and pending actions are communicated within the team for timely action.
- Meeting Coordination – Support in the preparation of meetings, presentations, talking points, and briefing documents.
- Events Management – Provide support in organizing conferences, webinars, and workshops, including managing invitations.
- Database management – Maintain a database of contacts (address and telephone numbers of institutions that the unit deals with, and any other relevant information).
- SharePoint management – Maintain file management on SharePoint for all correspondence and documentation, including donor reporting.
Required Academic and Professional Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in economics, Business, Commerce, Business Administration, social sciences, international studies, or other relevant field.
- Computer proficiency in: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet search skills, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new applications quickly.
- Experience in international development with a demonstrable track record of working with donors and partners.
- Experience in research and preparation of reports would be an added advantage.
- Strategic thinking, with strong analytical and research skills.
- Presentation skills with knowledge of tools such as PPT.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; courtesy, tact, patience, and team orientation.
- Ability to multitask and to prioritize work amidst competing demands.
- Planning and Organizing: Strong administration skills.
- Results-driven and attention to detail: ability to deliver in a short time span, high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and thoroughness. Ability to maintain a timely and efficient workflow.
