Intermediate Phase Subject Teacher Jobs in Milnerton at Oakview Academy
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Afrikaans Subject Teacher to join our Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–6) team. This is an entry-level position specifically structured for a novice teacher who is eager to gain hands-on classroom experience, develop their pedagogical skills, and instill a love for the Afrikaans language in our learners.
Key Responsibilities
As a junior educator, you will be guided and mentored as you take on the following roles:
- Lesson Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate Afrikaans FAL lessons in line with the CAPS curriculum.
- Classroom Management: Establish a positive, supportive, and productive classroom environment that encourages student participation.
- Assessment & Reporting: Administer assessments, grade student work timeously, and provide constructive feedback to support learner growth.
- Collaboration: Participate in phase meetings and collaborate with experienced department heads to refine your teaching strategies.
- Extramural Involvement: Assist with at least one sports, cultural, or club activity per term to fully immerse yourself in the school community.
Candidate Requirements

- Education: Completed or final-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or PGCE degree.
- Professional Registration: SACE registered (or proof of application in progress).
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in Afrikaans (written and spoken) with the ability to teach the language confidently.
- Skills: Basic digital literacy (MS Office, interactive whiteboards, or Google Classroom is a plus).
- Attributes: A growth mindset, strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine love for working with Intermediate Phase learners.
