Information Integrity Communications Specialist

Requirements

  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification (preferably a

Postgraduate Degree) in Communications, Journalism or a

related field

  • 5 to 8 years relevant experience in media analysis, journalism,

strategic communications, intelligence analysis or a related

environment

  • Demonstrated exposure to complex information ecosystems
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Key Performance Areas

  • Monitor, analyse, and assess the information environment in

order to identify emerging and potential misinformation,

disinformation and narrative risks affecting the City’s

reputation, public confidence, service delivery and/or

leadership credibility.

  • Independently design, coordinate and implement evidence-

based response strategies to mitigate the spread and impact

of misinformation and disinformation affecting the City

  • Provide specialist advisory input to senior management,

executives and other senior office-bearers on information

integrity risks, emerging reputational threats and appropriate

mitigation options.

  • Contribute specialist information integrity expertise to the City’s

crisis communication and institutional resilience efforts during

high-risk and high-impact events.

  • Generate analytical insights, reports and institutional

knowledge to inform management oversight, organisational

learning and strategic planning in respect of misinformation

and disinformation risks.
