About the Job
Alpha Southwest is seeking an experienced Master Electrician with SCADA experience to join our Albuquerque team. This position will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical power, control, and automation systems associated with water, wastewater, pumping, and industrial infrastructure projects.
In addition to possessing an active New Mexico Journeyman Electrician’s license (EE98J), the ideal candidate will possess strong electrical expertise, leadership capabilities, and hands-on experience with industrial controls. Experience with automation controls, PLCs, VFDs, and SCADA experirence is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems.
- Lead electrical crews and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, and construction documents.
- Install and commission motor controls, VFDs, instrumentation, and control panels.
- Perform electrical work associated with pumping stations, wells, booster stations, and water/wastewater facilities.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues in the field, including SCADA issues between field-level hardware (pumps and sensors) and the central control room (software and operators).
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and customers throughout project execution.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
- Support startup and commissioning activities for new and upgraded systems.
Required Qualifications
- Current New Mexico Journeyman License (EE98J).
- Minimum 5 + years of progressively responsible electrical experience in industrial, municipal, or commercial environments.
- Thorough knowledge of NEC requirements and electrical safety practices.
- Experience with motor controls, electrical distribution systems, and industrial equipment.
- Experience with industrial automation, and control systems.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and SCADA troubleshooting.
- Experience with VFD installation, startup, and diagnostics.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license required and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- Must pass a Criminal Background check and Motor Vehicle Report check.
- Must pass an initial drug test and adhere to random drug testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with water, wastewater, pumping, or utility infrastructure systems.
- Previous supervisory or project leadership experience.
- Additional certifications related to controls, instrumentation, or industrial electrical systems.

Pay: $45.00 – $50.00 per hour
