Position
Industrial Electrician
Minimum Requirements
· N3 Electrical Engineering
· Trade Tested Electrician (Red Seal)
· Valid Driver’s Licence
· Wireman’s Licence (Advantageous)
· Minimum 3 years’ industrial electrical experience
Purpose
To install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, test and commission industrial electrical systems and equipment, ensuring safe, reliable and compliant operation in industrial and municipal environments.
Key Responsibilities
· Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and single-line drawings.
· Install, terminate and commission industrial electrical installations.
· Install, maintain and fault-find on Motor Control Centres (MCCs).
· Install, configure and troubleshoot Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), Direct-On-Line (DOL) Starters, Soft Starters, Pump Control Panels and UPS Systems.
· Perform insulation resistance (Megger) testing on motors, submersible pumps and electrical cables.
· Carry out electrical fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance.
· Assist with the installation and commissioning of motors, pumps and associated control equipment.
· Perform electrical testing and complete commissioning documentation.
· Maintain compliance with SANS 10142 and Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
· Complete job cards, inspection reports and test records.
Knowledge & Skills
· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
· Strong industrial electrical fault-finding skills.
· Sound knowledge of MCCs, motor control and industrial automation.
· Working knowledge of instrumentation, including level, pressure and flow devices.
· Experience with pumps and motor control systems.
· Competent in the use of electrical test equipment, including insulation resistance testers (Megger).
· Good understanding of industrial electrical safety practices.
