Contract Type: Independent Contract as a panelist Mediator
Contract Duration: Twelve (12) months with a renewable option
The successful applicant must be an accredited mediator and have experience in Divorce Mediation as well as other family law mediation fields.
Requirements:
- Matric/ Grade 12.
- Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution and accreditation as a mediator is a must.
- Degree/ Diploma in legal studies will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 1 year working experience as a mediator in divorce matters and family law matters in general, whether employed or self employed is a must.
- Good Drafting and Typing Skills.
- Good Communication Skills.
- Telephone and video conference Etiquette.
- Computer Literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, Internet and Email).
- Be able to work independently without supervision.
Scope of work:
- Conducting Divorce Mediation sessions with divorcing couples.
- Assist Divorcing couples to negotiate fair and amicable asset division terms and draft settlement agreements.
- Assist Divorcing couples to negotiate co-parenting and custody terms and draft parenting agreements.
- Assist clients to resolve family law and other disputes and draft settlement agreements.
- Draft Settlement Agreements.
The Independent Mediator will be paid an hourly rate starting from R650/hr and above (negotiable), payable every fortnight or on monthly basis for the mediation sessions conducted. Normally the in-person meetings with clients are for initial consultations thereafter subsequent mediation sessions are conducted virtually per arrangements with clients, thus the mediator does not have to physically be at the office to conduct mediation sessions.
