SUMMARY:
Our Client is looking for an Import Seafreight Controller to join their team in Gauteng. This role will manage and coordinate all seafreight import shipments, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance with international trade regulations, and excellent client service delivery.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full seafreight import process from booking through to final delivery
- Liaise with clients, shipping lines, agents, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations
- Prepare and verify import documentation (Bills of Lading, Customs declarations, Certificates of Origin, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with customs, SARS, and international trade regulations
- Track shipments and provide clients with accurate status updates
- Manage cargo dues, invoicing, and financial records
- Resolve operational issues, delays, or documentation discrepancies quickly
- Maintain accurate digital and physical records of shipments
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in seafreight imports/logistics
- Strong knowledge of Incoterms, customs clearance, and international trade procedures
- Proficiency in logistics systems (CargoWise or similar) and MS Office
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving mindset
