Cargo Compass SA, a well-established freight forwarding and logistics company is looking for a qualified, well-experienced Seafreight imports controller to join our Durban team!
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in sea freight imports
- The ideal applicant should be a team player that is able to work under pressure in an organized and structured manner
- Have general knowledge of Forwarding, landside clearance and delivery process
- Problem solver who is technically minded and customer service driven coupled with a high degree of professional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Numeracy & Excel Skills required
- Be committed Work independently, Self- motivated and deadline driven.
- Matric, Driver’s License & Own Vehicle
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Acknowledge & action each new order
- Ensure order is captured on schedule
- Action orders with agent at POL
- Monitor & provide client with regular feedback
- Informed instructions to be sent to agent
- Pre-alert documents to be checked & confirmed with agent
- Ensuring European Shipments have EUR1
- Daily Invoicing to be done (at least 10 per day)
- Follow up with Transporter on delivery
- Update client on delivery date
- Check & monitor assistants’ desks, help them prioritize
- Attend to Queries
- Filing
Sea freight Forwarding
- The candidate is expected to co-ordinate the movement of sea cargo internationally
- Prices must be negotiated.
- Estimated must be submitted to customer for approval.
- Suitable Contracted carrier/shipping line/co-loader must be utilized to satisfy clients delivery date.
- Instruct our agent on drafting of bill of ladings, etc. and another specific document requirement such as EUR 1 Certificate
- Ensure relevant & specific documents are available before shipping such as Dairy Permit Application
- To request documentation from overseas for local clearance
- To register files
- To approve service provider invoices and ensure correct tariffs are applied.
- To ensure original bill of lading is on hand before release.
- All supporting Shipping Documents, Financial Documents & Commercial documents relevant correspondence to be scanned to file.
- Invoice file recovering all costs and ensuring a revenue.
- File finalizing – ensuring that all costs have been recovered.
- Maintain Customer Satisfaction and quick turn–around time on all tasks.
- All files consigned to Cargo Compass, must be RCG’d
- POMS – all orders to be captured onto POMS (Purchase Order Management System)
Import Seafreight
- Ensure files have completed check list.
- Files submitted to entries department 5-7 days prior to vessel arrival.
- Ensure submission of cargo dues, delivery instruction is done.
- Process for port health/ plant / state vet inspection if required.
