SUMMARY:

A well-established, values-driven organisation within the education and social impact sector is seeking an experienced Human Resources Practitioner to lead and mature its people management function.

This is a strategic yet hands-on role, ideal for a seasoned HR generalist who is passionate about organisational development, employee well-being, and building strong, compliant HR systems within a diverse and purpose-led environment.

POSITION INFO:

Job Description:

People Strategy & Organisational Development

Lead initiatives to strengthen organisational culture, inclusion, engagement, and employee experience

Analyse HR metrics and provide data-driven insights to leadership

Identify and address trends impacting morale, productivity, absenteeism, and retention

HR Policies, Processes & Compliance

Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures

Ensure alignment with South African labour legislation and statutory requirements

Performance Management & Labour Relations

Manage and improve the annual performance review process

Coach managers on performance and behavioural issues

Manage internal disciplinary and grievance processes

Handle external labour matters, including CCMA and Labour Court cases

Employee Wellness

Support employees with personal and professional challenges

Manage relationships with EAP and wellness service providers

Collaborate on wellness initiatives that promote employee health and well-being

Compensation, Payroll & Benefits

Oversee payroll and benefits administration (supported by finance)

Manage annual salary and bonus review processes

Coordinate benefit renewals and service providers

Administer workmens compensation claims

Learning, Development & Talent Management

Support career pathing, development planning, and succession planning

Design and manage training, mentoring, and leadership development initiatives

Develop and implement talent retention strategies

Recruitment & Onboarding

Manage end-to-end recruitment and selection processes

Ensure effective onboarding and integration of new employees

Employment Equity, BBBEE & Skills Development

Manage Employment Equity data, forums, and annual reporting

Prepare and submit Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs)

Support BBBEE Requirements Through Effective Skills Development Planning

Skills & Experience:

Minimum 10 years experience as an HR generalist, with at least 2 years at management level

Strong working knowledge of South African labour law and HR best practice

Proven experience in HR systems, policy development, performance management, and training

Experience within the education or NPO sector would be advantageous

Qualification:

Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology, or similar (NQF equivalent)
