We are shortlisting capable candidates on behalf of our client, Markh Automobile Ltd (Honda Markh), the official Honda dealership for Uganda, covering Honda motorcycles and power products. Honda Markh is in active growth mode and building the team that will carry the brand's next chapter in Uganda.
The role
Honda Markh is hiring an HR Officer to build the people engine of a fast-scaling dealership. Based in Kampala, on-site, contract. You will run the full employee lifecycle in a growth-stage business, aggressive recruitment for sales, field, and technical roles; structured onboarding and induction; performance management cadence (daily, weekly, monthly reporting discipline); certification tracking for sales and aftersales teams; discipline and consequence management; and the day-to-day of HR operations (contracts, attendance, leave, payroll input, statutory compliance, employee records). You will partner with line managers to hire fast without losing quality, identify and protect top performers, and enforce the non-negotiables, attendance, reporting, fuel discipline, stock handling without becoming the person everyone avoids. What you bring
- 3–5 years of hands-on HR generalist experience, ideally in a sales-driven, field-heavy, or high-volume hiring environment (automotive, FMCG distribution, retail, telecoms, logistics)
- Strong recruitment muscle, you can source, screen, and close candidates at pace without dropping quality; you've personally filled field and sales roles, not just white-collar ones
- Working knowledge of Ugandan labour law, employment contracts, disciplinary procedures, and statutory compliance (NSSF, PAYE, URA filings, workers' compensation)
- Comfort with performance management cadence, you can hold line managers to weekly reporting, track KPI compliance, and drive corrective action without flinching
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Psychology, Business, or a related discipline; professional HR certification (CHRP, CIPD, SHRM) is a plus
- A field-comfortable disposition, you should be willing to visit the workshop, ride along with a field team, and sit in on a dealer activation; HR at Honda Markh is not an office-only function
- Maturity and composure, the job involves difficult conversations (non-performance, fuel misuse, stock variance investigations); you need to handle them firmly and fairly
- Strong documentation discipline, employee files, disciplinary records, and training logs that would stand up to an audit
