Title: Human Resources Director

Company: Agriventure Egypt

Location: Qesm 1st New Cairo, Cairo, Egypt

JOB DESCRIPTION

HR Director — Agricultural Operations

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer / Board

Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned HR Director to architect our Human Resources function from inception. This is a founding role: the successful candidate will design the department’s structure, author its full suite of policies and procedures, recruit and lead the HR team, and embed sound, compliant people-practices across a workforce spanning field labour and skilled professionals. Familiarity with agricultural operations and their distinct workforce dynamics is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

Department Build-Out

  • Establish the HR function from scratch — define its structure, headcount, systems, budget, and operating model.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop a complete HR team (recruitment, payroll, employee relations, administration, HSE liaison).
  • Select and implement core HR infrastructure (HRIS, payroll systems, time-and-attendance, personnel records).

Policies & Procedures

  • Draft, ratify, and roll out the complete policy framework: employee handbook, code of conduct, disciplinary and grievance procedures, leave, attendance, remuneration, and performance management.
  • Ensure every policy is fully compliant with prevailing Egyptian labour and social insurance legislation, and keep the framework current as the law evolves.
  • Design contracts, job descriptions, and organisational charts across all functions.

Workforce Management — Blue & White Collar

  • Manage the full spectrum of the workforce: seasonal and permanent field labour, packhouse and operations staff, alongside management, technical, and administrative professionals.
  • Build fair, market-aligned compensation and benefits structures appropriate to each category.
  • Establish recruitment pipelines and workforce-planning models that accommodate seasonal peaks and agricultural cycles.

Compliance & Employee Relations

  • Serve as the authority on Egyptian labour law, social insurance, and related regulatory obligations; liaise with legal counsel and relevant authorities.
  • Manage labour relations, dispute resolution, and disciplinary matters with fairness and legal rigour.
  • Oversee occupational health, safety, and welfare standards suited to farm and packhouse environments.

Leadership & Culture

  • Partner with founders and senior leadership on organisational design, talent strategy, and culture.
  • Establish performance, training, and development frameworks.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Law, or a related field; CIPD, SHRM, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including a senior or director-level role.
  • Demonstrated experience building an HR department from zero — not merely running an established one.
  • Deep, current command of Egyptian labour law, social insurance regulations, and recent legislative reforms.
  • Proven track record managing both blue-collar and white-collar workforces.
  • Strong experience authoring policies, procedures, and contracts.

Preferred

  • Background in agriculture, agribusiness, or a comparable seasonal-labour industry.
  • Experience with export-oriented operations, packhouses, or food-production environments.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English.

Core Competencies

Strategic thinking · Sound judgement · Integrity and discretion · Strong negotiation and conflict resolution · Hands-on execution · Ability to operate autonomously in an unstructured, build-phase environment.
