We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Human Resources Business Partner to join the Mowana Team. The HR Business Partner performs duties associated with some or all of the different functional HR areas, including employee relations, training, employment, and benefits. To optimise HR performance in line with the strategic and operational business goals and to set and manage corporate human resources policies, procedures and guidelines. To ensure that HR requirements and services within Pareto Limited and Mowana Properties are provided for. To maintain good employee relations.
Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Provide guidance to management on best practice and process for recruitment and selection of candidates
- Manage the advertising process where vacancies are advertised
- internally and through appropriate external channels and in line with company policy Support managers with interviews
- Prepare new engagement documentation
- Report and track recruitment for the business
- Provide insight and feedback to line manager
- Conduct exit interviews
Human Resource function
- Align the HR plan with the company business plans and strategic goals as well as establish and accomplish objectives for the HR department by:
- Participate in strategic planning for Pareto and Mowana Properties
- Give input on the short- and long-term plans for HR to the line manager
- Identify trends pertaining to HR
- Identify changes in the external environment in which Pareto and
- Mowana operates and initiate changes in HR to ensure efficient and effective service delivery
- Facilitate induction and orientation programmes for new employees
- Compose and format job descriptions new and existing, submit to relevant departments for review and input. Submit reviewed job descriptions to relevant service provider for grading and benchmarking
- Periodic reviews on policies for amendments and suggest amendments
- Assist and give input with HR benchmarking and trends
- Provide feedback and reports on HR KPA’s
- Establish a business partner relationship with line managers, heads of department:
- ADHOC salary increases
- Leave management (absenteeism, etc)
- Policies and procedures
- Recruitment
- IR
- Etc.
- Initiate and develop projects in the HR department which will benefit the company
- Assist the line manager with Employment Equity plans and adherence
- Finance:
- Assist in preparing departmental budget for the financial year
- Liaise with service providers to coordinate employee wellness activities.
- Facilitate counselling and coaching for employees
Labour Relations
- Assist the line managers and employees in the understanding and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Provide advice on labour related issues and ensure compliance to labour laws and HR policies.
- Provide counselling on conflict management and mediate where necessary.
- Receive and process formal grievances lodged by employees.
- Manage the formal disciplinary and grievance hearings in accordance with the company codes and procedures.
- Attend the external mediation and arbitration process on behalf of the company.
Payroll
- Input and check on payroll and the payroll requirements
- Responsible for accurate payroll function of the areas of responsibility
- Check and submit monthly payroll and inputs to the payroll service provider
- Distribute payroll and input to relevant signatories for approval
- Check the month end reports for accuracy on the areas of responsibility
IR-Relations
- Assist with compiling, updating and implementing of performance management and possible IR policies and plans for Pareto and Mowana.
- Assist employees and line managers with performance management
- Assist employees and line managers with the grievance procedure and disciplinary codes.
- Monitor and assess internal IR issues and intervene where necessary
- Assist and give advice to line managers with disciplinary issues and hearings
- Provide information, advice and guidance to employees and line managers regarding labour related issues
- Attend CCMA cases on behalf of the company
- Assist employees and line managers with conflict management
- Report and provide feedback to line manager
Change Management
- Partnering with leadership to assess the people impact of organisational change (structures, roles, skills, policies, culture)
- Leading change management initiatives including workforce transitions, restructures, policy changes, and operational transformations
- Driving effective communication and engagement, ensuring employees understand the rationale, impact, and expectations related to change
- Supporting leaders and managers to manage resistance, build capability, and role-model desired behaviours
- Ensuring compliance with labour legislation (BCEA, LRA) during change initiatives
- Managing employee relations risk associated with change (consultation, fairness, consistency)
- Embedding change sustainably through training, performance alignment, and behavioural reinforcement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources (HR) or an equivalent
Experience
- 8-10 years relevant experience
Required Knowledge
- Strong organization, communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Understanding of the South African labour laws, regulations and practices.
- Working knowledge of all HR value chain and processes involved in the management of the employee life cycle .
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Data base management and record keeping.
- Stakeholder engagement and Management.
- Excellent report writing skills.
