Purpose of the Job:

To identify and provide the company with relevant Human Resource interventions in the HR Operations field which will assist the organisation to attain its objectives.


SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

Ensure the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act No.29 of 1996) safety and health standards are maintained


PEOPLE

Manage the Section:

  • Ensure the Business plan labour complements are manned to set standards
  • Ensure Job profiles exist for all positions
  • Ensure an enabling climate/culture
  • Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover

o Labour complement in line with budget
o Achieve HDSA/Female targets for the Section

  • Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
  • Conduct recruitment interviews
  • Conduct retention surveys and implement retention strategies
  • Ensure that the Time and Attendance function (BessAccess) is managed effectively

o Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are maintained
o Ensure that attendance is recorded and interfaced with SAP Management

system.
o Continuously investigate the enhancement of the system
o Ensure system is correctly used to do shift clearance
o Ensure system is used for zoning purposed

  • Ensure that the SAP electronic HR and Payroll system is managed effectively.

o Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are maintained
o Ensure that reports are used to manage labour and other activities for

example overtime, call outs, standby, acting etc.

  • Manage contractor labour


Customer Relations:

  • Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders


BUSINESS PROCESSES

HR Legislation:

  • Comply with the relevant HR Legislation (Labour Relations Act, EE Act, etc.)
  • Provide information and advice regarding legislation that may impact employment issues

Labour Management:

  • Ensure labour is managed in accordance with set standards.
  • Compile labour summaries
  • Attend weekly EMP meetings
  • Ensure that a pool of trained not placed labour exist

Employment Equity:

  • Assist with the compilation of the EE Report
  • Assist with the Development of EE targets per Job Level per site and for Business Unit
  • Identify gaps
  • Ensure engagement and promotions address gaps
  • Monitor compliance with EE targets
  • Assist with the implementation of EE initiatives
  • Assist with the Establishment of a pool of EE candidates

Employee Transport:

  • Manage the transport contract
  • Ensure all aspects of the contract are met by the Service Provider
  • Continuously liaise with the service provider on all aspects of the contract
  • Handle all related queries

Reporting:

  • Compile monthly HR Reports

  • Monitor and control section costs
  • Prepare and plan for Departmental Budgets

HR Legislation:

  • Interpret and apply the codes of good practice and guidelines in the Labour Relations Act and Basic conditions of employment Act
  • Interpret and apply employment equity legislation

Industrial Relations:

  • Assist with the maintenance of discipline
  • Apply negotiation skills and lead negotiations at Business unit level
  • Apply principles of dispute management in labour relations
  • Demonstrate understanding of how to conduct a disciplinary hearing
  • Interpret and manage conflicts within the workplace

Employee Wellness:

  • Promote the impact of personal wellness on work performance
  • Assist employees with their personal wellness

Climate and Culture:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the impact of an unfavorable Climate and Culture in an organisation
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Motivational theories

Recruitment and Selection:

  • Recruit and select candidates to fill defined positions
  • Conduct recruitment interview using Targeted Selection methodology
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Psychometric Assessments in the recruitment process
  • Manage the Business Unit Recruitment process
  • Implement the Recruitment, Selection and Assessment Protocol

Talent Management:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of Talent Management and the impact on the organisation
  • Ensure the establishment of a talent pool

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:


Minimum qualifications:

  • Degree or Technikon Diploma
  • Valid Certificate of Fitness
  • First aid

Additional qualifications:

  • Computer Literacy


Experience:

6 Years relevant experience, preferably 2 years managerial experience
