Our client is seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and commercially minded General Manager to lead the operations of a boutique safari hotel/lodge. This is an exciting opportunity for a hospitality professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences, building high-performing teams, and driving sustainable business growth.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership while overseeing the day-to-day management of all hotel operations, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and an unforgettable guest experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the hotel's strategic and operational plans.
  • Drive business growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities and strategic partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends and position the hotel competitively.
  • Prepare and present performance reports to the Owners.

Operations Management

  • Lead the daily operations of the hotel across all departments.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Maintenance, Finance & Administration, Security, and Sales & Marketing.
  • Maintain exceptional hospitality standards and service quality.
  • Oversee the effective management of hotel facilities and assets.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage annual budgets.
  • Monitor revenue, expenditure, and profitability.
  • Implement effective cost-control measures.
  • Drive occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR), RevPAR, and Food & Beverage revenue growth.

Guest Experience

  • Deliver exceptional guest satisfaction and memorable experiences.
  • Manage guest feedback and service recovery professionally.
  • Strengthen customer loyalty and repeat business through continuous improvement initiatives.

Sales & Business Development

  • Build relationships with tour operators, travel agents, corporate clients, NGOs, and government agencies.
  • Support marketing initiatives that increase occupancy and brand visibility.
  • Position the hotel as a preferred safari destination.

People Leadership

  • Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Lead performance management, employee engagement, and staff development initiatives.

Quality, Compliance & Sustainability

  • Ensure compliance with hospitality regulations, labour laws, and health and safety standards.
  • Promote environmental stewardship and sustainable tourism practices.
  • Strengthen risk management and business continuity processes.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with local communities and tourism stakeholders.
  • Represent the hotel in industry forums and professional associations.
  • Support meaningful corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Strong financial, commercial, and operational management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
