About the Role

Tennessee Valley Equipment is hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician to join our service team in Columbia, Tennessee. In this role you will diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy diesel equipment — including, construction, Forestry Mulchers, Horizontal Grinders/Chippers, and other diesel-powered equipment. We count on our technicians to deliver expert workmanship that keeps demanding equipment running in the field and on the job site.

What You’ll Do

· Diagnose, repair, and overhaul heavy diesel engines, powertrains, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems

· Perform major and minor repairs, rebuilds, and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment

· Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic issues using advanced diagnostic tools

· Complete repairs accurately and efficiently to manufacturer specifications

· Conduct inspections and road or field tests to verify repair quality

· Document work performed, parts used, and labor time

· Communicate with service writers and customers about repair needs and recommendations

· Coordinate with the parts department to source the right components

· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop and work environment

What We’re Looking For

· Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a diesel or heavy equipment technician

· Strong working knowledge of heavy diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, and electrical systems

· Proficiency with diagnostic software, scan tools, and service equipment

· Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic readouts

· Own set of hand tools (specialty and diagnostic tools provided)

· Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a customer-focused attitude

· Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; CDL a plus

· High school diploma or equivalent; diesel technology certification or equivalent experience preferred

Pay: $30.00 – $45.00 per hour
