Position Title : Head of Sales – Mauritius

Location: Mauritius (with regular travel to Madagascar)

Reports To: General Manager

 

Position Overview

 

The Head of Sales – Madagascar will be based in Mauritius and will have overall responsibility for leading, managing, and growing the company's sales operations in Madagascar. The role requires a highly motivated sales leader with proven experience in sales management, team leadership, business development, and performance management.

 

The successful candidate will oversee the Madagascar sales team, drive revenue growth, ensure achievement of sales targets, monitor budgets and profitability, and maintain strong client and partner relationships. Regular travel to Madagascar will be required to support the local team, engage with key clients, and drive business growth.

 

Knowledge of the Malagasy market, business culture, and commercial landscape will be considered a strong advantage.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Sales Leadership & Performance Management

 

·      Develop and execute the sales strategy for Madagascar in alignment with the company's overall business objectives.

·      Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate the sales team to achieve and exceed individual and collective sales targets.

·      Ensure all sales personnel clearly understand their targets, KPIs, responsibilities, and performance expectations.

·      Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions with team members.

·      Drive a high-performance sales culture focused on accountability, customer satisfaction, and results.

·      Ensure the sales team maintains an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline and forecasting process.

 

2. Revenue Growth & Business Development

 

·      Identify and pursue new business opportunities across key market segments.

·      Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key clients, partners, distributors, and stakeholders.

·      Negotiate and close high-value opportunities and strategic accounts.

·      Expand the company's market presence and strengthen its competitive position in Madagascar.

·      Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.

 

3. Budget & KPI Management

 

·      Track sales performance against budget, forecasts, and profitability objectives.

·      Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets are achieved.

·      Monitor and analyse sales KPIs, pipeline performance, conversion rates, and revenue generation.

·      Implement corrective actions when performance deviates from agreed objectives.

·      Ensure all sales team members are aligned with company goals and individual performance indicators.

 

4. Team Management & Development

 

·      Recruit, onboard, train, and develop sales personnel when required.

·      Foster teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning within the sales function.

·      Identify skill gaps and implement coaching and development plans.

·      Ensure sales resources are effectively deployed to maximise revenue opportunities.

 

5. Reporting & Governance

 

·      Provide weekly sales performance updates to the General Manager.

·      Present monthly business performance reports to the Group Management Committee.

·      Prepare and present quarterly performance reviews, strategic updates, and forecasts to the Board of Directors.

·      Deliver accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports, market intelligence, and business recommendations.

·      Ensure management has clear visibility on business performance, opportunities, risks, and corrective actions.

 

6. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership

 

·      Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Technical, Finance, and Customer Success teams to ensure successful delivery of projects and customer satisfaction.

·      Support the execution of marketing campaigns, events, and business development initiatives.

·      Contribute to the company's regional growth strategy and commercial planning.

 

7. Travel Requirements

 

·      Travel regularly to Madagascar to support business development activities, customer engagements, team management, and operational reviews.

·      Represent the company at client meetings, trade shows, industry events, conferences, and networking activities.

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

·      Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Sales, Marketing, Management, or a related field will be an advantage.

·      Minimum 5 years of sales leadership or sales management experience.

·      Proven track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets.

·      Experience leading, coaching, and managing sales teams.

·      Strong business development, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

·      Experience in B2B sales environments.

·      Knowledge of the Malagasy market would be a significant advantage.

·      Fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of Malagasy would be an advantage.
