Syycol Limited is a Ghana-based company specializing in the import and distribution of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) across West Africa. Established in 2013, Syycol is exclusive distributors for brands such as Lago, Clover, Garea, Rufia, House of Biscuits, Casal Garcia wines among others in Ghana.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Head of Sales based in Accra, Ghana. The Head of Sales will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to drive revenue growth and market share. Key responsibilities include managing and mentoring the sales team, building relationships with clients and distributors, overseeing account management, analyzing performance metrics, and identifying new business opportunities. The ideal candidate will play a key role in leading Syycol’s efforts to achieve sales targets and foster long-term client partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver results in line with sales objectives.
· Create and implement monthly, quarterly, and annual sales plans.
· Track KPIs: Turnover, Distribution, and Market Share.
· Develop and implement Sales and Route To Market Strategies for each brand
· Increase numerical outlets in open markets, kiosks, and wholesale channels.
· Ensure strong product availability and visibility across key outlets
· Recruit, lead and manage Sales Representatives and DSRs
· Oversee the achievement of all departmental performance targets
· Build and sustain a high-performance team culture
· Implement consumer and trade promotions effectively
· Obtain market intelligence (consumer behavior, competitor activities, etc.)
· Analyze sales performance (sell-in and sell-out data)
· Monitor inventory levels to prevent stock-outs or overstocking
· Provide sales forecasts and actionable improvement plans
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or above (Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related fields preferred)
Experience
· 5–8 years of sales experience (preferably in FMCG)
· Minimum 4 years of management experience in a similar role
· Understanding FMCG distribution and wholesale in Ghana is a must
· Experience in multinational companies is a major advantage (e.g., Promasidor, far east, Unilever)
Core Competencies
· Proven ability to achieve results in limited-resource settings
· Expertise in managing wholesale and retail distribution
· Effective negotiation and stakeholder management skills
· Strong market insight: knowledge of local consumer habits (such as price sensitivity and preferred pack sizes)
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in Sales and Sales Management
- Competence in Account Management and maintaining strong client relationships
- Strong Team Management skills with the ability to inspire and lead teams
- Advanced Analytical Skills to interpret market trends and adjust strategies accordingly
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus
- Experience in the FMCG sector or related industries is highly preferred
