A fast-scaling, investor-backed fintech company expanding its footprint across Southern Africa is seeking a Head of Operations to lead operational execution across Zambia. The role will ensure that customer onboarding, site installations, field team management, and day-to-day operations meet the highest standards of efficiency and service.
This position requires a hands-on, solutions-driven leader with 5–10 years’ experience in operations, preferably in fintech, financial services, or high-growth environments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Field Management
- Organise and oversee installations at customer sites, ensuring quality, timeliness, and safety standards
- Lead and manage field teams, setting operational standards and driving a culture of excellence
- Onboard and train new clients during go-live to ensure smooth adoption of services
- Solve operational problems as they arise, including technical, logistical, and client-facing challenges
Logistics & Resource Management
- Arrange transport and logistics of equipment across Zambia efficiently and cost-effectively
- Manage your own budget and oversee operational expenditures (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX)
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure resources are deployed effectively and projects run smoothly
Reporting & Performance Management
- Provide daily operational reporting on CAPEX, OPEX, and team performance
- Develop and track KPIs to measure operational efficiency, client satisfaction, and team productivity
- Continuously evaluate processes to identify and implement improvements in operational workflow
Strategic & Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with executive leadership to support operational planning and growth initiatives
- Ensure operational compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and fintech standards
- Act as a point of contact for client escalations and ensure timely resolution
Experience
- 5–10 years’ experience in operations management, preferably in fintech, financial services, or high-growth environments
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and mentor teams effectively
- Hands-on, solutions-driven approach with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Experience managing logistics, budgets, and operational reporting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with clients, field staff, and senior leadership
