Job Description

The Head of the Accounting Department is responsible for the overall management of the company's accounting operations. He supervises the production of financial statements, ensures compliance with accounting and tax standards, and steers financial processes in line with the organization's overall strategy.

He supervises an accounting team, coordinates periodic closings and supports management in decision-making through reliable and relevant financial analyses.

Key Deliverables

  • Reliable and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Compliant accounting closes (monthly and annual)
  • Accurate and timely tax and social security returns
  • Financial reporting (dashboards, performance analyses)
  • Implementation and continuous improvement of accounting procedures
  • Management of internal and external audits (preparation and coordination)
  • Account reconciliation and balance justification
  • Optimization of accounting processes and associated tools

Strategic Effectiveness

  • Contribute to the definition of the company's financial strategy
  • Provide financial analysis to support management decision-making
  • Anticipate financial risks and propose corrective measures
  • Participate in transformation projects (ERP, digitalization, etc.)
  • Ensure regulatory monitoring and adapt accounting practices accordingly
  • Participate in improving profitability through better cost control

Operational Effectiveness

  • Ensure the day-to-day management of general, auxiliary and analytical accounting
  • Oversee accounting closes and ensure their accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with tax and legal obligations
  • Optimize accounting processes to increase efficiency and reliability
  • Establish strong internal controls
  • Manage cash flow in conjunction with the finance department
  • Track fixed assets and provisions
  • Ensure regular reporting to management

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Coaching, training and developing the accounting team
  • Setting up a structured and efficient organization
  • Fostering a culture of rigor, ethics and compliance
  • Collaborate with other departments (Finance, HR, Supply Chain, IT, etc.)
  • Manage relationships with external partners (auditors, tax specialists, banks)
  • Manage the workload and ensure that deadlines are met

Requirements

  • Bac +4/5 in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of accounting experience
  • Proven experience in team management
  • Mastery of accounting standards
  • Excellent command of accounting and ERP tools (SAP, Oracle, Sage, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of local and international taxation
  • Financial analysis capability
  • Leadership and ability to manage a team
  • Rigour, organization and attention to detail
  • Analytical mind and ability to synthesize
  • Strong work ethic and sense of confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills
  • Professional English
