Role Description The Head Accountant is a full-time, on-site position based in Cairo, Egypt, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities for MES. This role manages the general ledger, supervises month-end and year-end closing, and ensures accurate preparation of financial statements in line with applicable standards and regulations. The Head Accountant monitors budgets, cash flow, and cost allocations, supports audits, and implements internal controls to safeguard company assets. Daily tasks include overseeing accounts payable and receivable, coordinating with banks and external auditors, reviewing tax filings, and providing financial insights to management for strategic decision-making. The role also involves leading and mentoring the accounting team, optimizing accounting processes, and ensuring timely, compliant financial operations that support the company’s growth.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and local tax regulations.
- Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and cash flow management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop an accounting team, with effective delegation and performance management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including prior supervisory or head accountant responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is an advantage.
- Experience in environmental services, infrastructure, or project-based industries is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Garden City, Cairo, Egypt, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high ethical and confidentiality standards.
