A well-established, multi-award-winning safari and travel group with lodges and camps spanning several African countries (and further afield) is seeking an experienced GROUP IMPACT DIRECTOR to lead its conservation, community and ESG strategy at a group level

This is a senior strategic leadership role for someone who can operate at executive level, think in systems, and turn a company’s conservation and community commitments into measurable, credible outcomes. You’ll need to be equally comfortable presenting to a board and building relationships with community and conservation partners on the ground.

Core Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Conservation, Development Studies, ESG, Business, Tourism or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in sustainability, ESG, conservation or impact management, ideally in a leadership capacity
  • Proven track record developing impact strategies, ESG frameworks and reporting systems
  • Experience operating across multi-country or regional business environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership management experience, including with executive teams
  • Solid grasp of governance, measurement and reporting systems
  • [Preferred] Experience with in conservation, hospitality, tourism or community development sectors
  • [Preferred] Fundraising and donor engagement experience
  • [Preferred] Working knowledge of global ESG standards and sustainability reporting frameworks
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex impact concepts for varied audiences
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to influence across departments and regions without direct line authority

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine the group’s impact strategy in line with long-term business and conservation objectives
  • Design and maintain group-wide impact frameworks, KPIs and governance systems for conservation, community and ESG performance
  • Oversee ESG and sustainability reporting, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness
  • Drive adoption of impact standards and accountability across regional operations
  • Lead strategic coordination with the group’s non-profit partner organisation to align on shared outcomes
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, conservation partners, regulators and other key stakeholders
  • Identify and pursue fundraising and guest donation opportunities without compromising the guest experience
  • Partner with marketing to ensure impact storytelling stays authentic and aligned to actual delivery
  • Provide strategic oversight of impact-related funding, including budgeting and governance
  • Represent the organisation at industry forums and in strategic partnerships
  • Embed impact thinking into leadership behaviour, culture and employee engagement across the business
