Job Purpose & Expectations

The Graduate Analyst plays a supporting role in project delivery by assisting with structured research, analysis, and preparation of project materials across Versa Partners’ client engagements and internal initiatives.

The role is designed for newly graduated individuals who demonstrate strong potential, curiosity, and a commitment to professional development. The Graduate Analyst will receive guidance from senior team members and will be expected to learn quickly, apply feedback, and progressively build independence over the six-month contract period.

Versa Partners operates in a fast-paced consulting environment with high delivery expectations. The Graduate Analyst is expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong attention to detail, while developing the technical and consulting skills required for progression into an Analyst role.

Objectives of the Role

  • Supporting project delivery by completing assigned tasks with accuracy, responsiveness, and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Assisting in the preparation of structured work products (slides, trackers, summaries, and supporting analysis) under guidance.
  • Developing an understanding of deliverable intent, including what outputs are for and how they will be used.
  • Conducting research and basic analysis to support project decision-making and reporting.
  • Maintaining strong documentation and file management practices, including version control and document organisation.
  • Demonstrating professional growth over the contract period, including improved speed, judgement, and quality of outputs.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Analyst/Senior Analyst will support project teams and senior management by contributing to high-impact energy infrastructure projects and internal initiatives. Responsibilities include:

Project Management Support

  • ­Assist in tracking and monitoring project schedules, risks, and deliverables, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
  • ­Support the preparation and maintenance of basic project trackers and reporting outputs.
  • ­Assist with coordination of internal tasks and deliverables where required.

Project Development Support

  • ­Assist in preparing sections of project reports, presentations, and other deliverables under guidance.
  • ­Support identification of project risks and issues by capturing inputs from senior team members and maintaining logs where required.
  • ­Support the preparation of meeting packs, summaries, and follow-up trackers.

Project Documentation & Documentation Control

­Assist in managing project documentation, including governance materials, reports, and presentations.

­Support document control practices, including version tracking and accessibility.

­Ensure file naming, version control, and document structure are aligned with Versa Partners’ standards.

Research and Analysis

  • ­Conduct research and perform basic analysis to support project deliverables.
  • ­Translate research into clear, structured outputs suitable for senior review.
  • ­Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in the energy sector and share findings with the team.

Presentation and Reporting Support

  • ­Assist in preparing and refining slides and presentation materials for internal and client-facing use.
  • ­Apply consistent formatting, layout discipline, and narrative clarity under guidance.
  • ­Ensure presentation outputs are aligned with the purpose of the deliverable and incorporate feedback from senior team members.

Quantitative and Excel-Based Support

  • ­Support Excel-based deliverables, including trackers, simple models, and analytical workbooks.
  • ­Ensure calculations are accurate and traceable, and request guidance where assumptions are unclear.

Quality Control

  • ­Review assigned outputs for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to quality standards before submission.
  • ­Verify calculations, assumptions, formatting, and alignment with task objectives prior to sharing with senior team members.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • ­ Collaborate with internal team members to maintain clear and professional communication.
  • ­ Respond to requests with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • ­ Escalate early where expectations are unclear or where timelines may be at risk.

Governance and Compliance

  • ­Support governance activities by reviewing agreements, maintaining compliance trackers, and preparing meeting minutes.
  • ­Ensure assigned tasks align with governance and organisational frameworks.

Continuous Improvement

  • ­Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth by developing technical expertise and consulting skills.
  • ­Actively seek feedback and apply it quickly.
  • ­Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and quality in routine tasks over time.

The Graduate Analyst is expected to maintain high standards of professional conduct, including reliability, integrity, and accountability for assigned work.

The role requires the ability to take ownership of assigned tasks, apply feedback, and progressively build independence over the contract period.

The Graduate Analyst must demonstrate sound judgement in managing time, priorities, and deliverables in a consulting environment.

Time Recording and Work Discipline

Versa Partners operates as a consulting firm in which client work is billed based on time and deliverables.

Accurate and timely recording of work hours is therefore an essential professional responsibility. The Graduate Analyst is expected to record time honestly and contemporaneously, ensure time entries accurately reflect work performed, and seek clarification where uncertainty exists regarding billable activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, finance, economics, or a related field (recent graduate).
  • No prior full-time work experience is required, although internships or vacation work in analytical, consulting, finance, engineering, or project environments are advantageous.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and present information clearly.
  • Good Excel capability, with an interest in developing structured workbook design and quantitative analysis skills.
  • Good PowerPoint capability, with an interest in developing slide structuring, formatting, and narrative clarity.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on producing professional outputs.
  • Strong attention to detail, including numbers, units, dates, and version control.
  • High professional integrity, reliability, and judgement.
  • A positive, proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and contribute to team success.

Location & Travel

Office-based role in Fourways, Gauteng.
