Job Overview
We are seeking a precise, detail-oriented, and reliable Field Measure Technician to join our team in North Hollywood, CA. In this critical role, you will serve as the bridge between our estimating/project management team and actual field execution. Your primary responsibility will be to visit job sites to obtain exact physical measurements, assess site readiness, verify conditions before fabrication begins, and report on installations in progress. You may install projects as well on occasion.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in the glazing trade, an absolute obsession with accuracy, and the ability to anticipate potential installation challenges before they happen.

The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of trade-specific materials, labor, and fabrication processes and possess a strong ability to analyze blueprints and specifications. Your expertise will drive the seamless execution of projects and fostering strong client relationships while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Duties

  • Comprehensive Scope Analysis: Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to thoroughly determine the scope of work.
  • Precision Field Measurements: Conduct highly accurate manual and digital field measurements (using tape measures, laser levels, and digital measuring devices) for glass, storefronts, curtain walls, railings, mirrors, and shower doors.
  • Technical Tools: Highly proficient with precision measuring tools, laser levels, and digital templating tools.
  • Site Condition Assessment: Evaluate job site readiness, ensuring openings are plumb, level, square, and structurally sound for glass installation.
  • Detailed Documentation: Create clear, legible field sketches, notes, and digital templates to hand off to the production, estimating, and project management teams.
  • Blueprint & Shop Drawing Review: Read and interpret architectural blueprints, section details, and shop drawings.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and flag potential structural layout conflicts, obstructions, or safety issues on site, proposing practical field solutions.
  • Bidding: Help back office with estimating process
  • Multi-Tasking: Efficiently manage multiple sites simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Demands: Must be comfortable working on active construction sites, climbing ladders, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Client & Trade Coordination: Act as a professional representative of our company on-site, communicating effectively with general contractors, superintendents, and clients.
  • Clean Driving Record: Valid California Driver’s License and a clean DMV record are mandatory, as a company vehicle and fuel will be provided for travel to and from jobsites.
  • Soft Skills: High level of accountability, exceptional spatial awareness, sharp mathematical skills, and strong verbal communication.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Trade Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the commercial/residential glass and glazing industry (as an installer, fabricator, or measure tech).
  • Industry Standards: Basic Familiarity with industry building codes, fenestration standards, and specific manufacturer guidelines.
  • Hands-on construction site experience that provides insight into field operations and project execution.
  • Mathematical & Analytical Skills: Excellent quantitative and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills for precise internal and client-facing correspondence.
  • Technical Tools: Highly proficient with precision measuring tools, laser levels, and digital templating tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail

Pay: $55,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
