The General Worker plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational efficiency, cleanliness, and professional appearance of the dealership or branch. This position is responsible for executing general labor tasks, assisting with stock management, preparing vehicles or products for display/delivery, and ensuring a safe, clean working environment in line with company standards and occupational health and safety regulations.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities1. Housekeeping & Facility Maintenance
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness and tidiness of the showroom, workshop, yard, and office areas daily.
- Ensure floors are swept, mopped, and kept free of oil spills or hazards.
- Dispose of waste, scrap materials, and packaging in accordance with waste management policies.
- Assist with basic facility maintenance tasks as directed by management.
2. Stock Handling & Logistics Support
- Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles safely.
- Move, pack, and stack stock, automotive parts, or tyres in designated storage areas or shelves.
- Ensure stock is handled carefully to prevent damages or losses.
- Assist with regular stock takes and inventory counts as required.
3. Vehicle & Product Preparation
- Wash, clean, and vacuum vehicles or prepare automotive products to ensure they are presented professionally to customers.
- Assist team members with moving vehicles or shifting displays within the yard or showroom.
- Report any visible damages, defects, or missing items on vehicles or stock immediately to the supervisor.
4. General Operational Support
- Run operational errands as requested by management (e.g., collecting items, moving documents between departments).
- Assist technicians, sales staff, or warehouse personnel with manual labor tasks when required.
- Operate basic tools and cleaning equipment safely and responsibly.
5. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere strictly to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines and company safety policies.
- Wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety boots, overalls).
- Report any unsafe working conditions, incidents, or near-misses to the safety representative or supervisor immediately.
Job Requirements & Competencies Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate (required).
- Previous experience as a general worker, cleaner, or packer within a retail, warehousing, or automotive environment is an advantage.
Pay: R6 500,00 – R7 000,00 per month
