We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a company belonging to an international group operating in logistics, transport, and supply chain in Africa, a General Manager based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The General Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the company’s activities by overseeing all strategic, financial, operational, and commercial functions to ensure profitability, growth, and regulatory compliance.

This strategic role requires a balance of leadership, entrepreneurial vision, business development, and operational rigor. The General Manager will help strengthen the company’s presence in a competitive environment while ensuring high service standards and adherence to the group’s policies.

The position is based in Lubumbashi, with regular interactions with Kinshasa, reporting directly to the Group Board.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and implement the company’s development strategy in line with the group’s objectives and the local market context.
  • Represent the company with local institutions, partners, clients, and authorities.
  • Lead and structure the local team by setting clear, measurable objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Group Board on performance, strategic projects, and growth opportunities.
  • Promote a corporate culture based on ethics, transparency, and operational excellence.

Financial Management

  • Take responsibility for the profit and loss (P&L) and ensure operational profitability.
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, and key financial indicators.
  • Oversee accounting, billing, and collections processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the group.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax and regulatory obligations.
  • Implement rigorous cost and resource management.

Business Development

  • Define and drive the commercial strategy to expand the company’s presence and performance in the Congolese market.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with corporate and institutional clients.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and strategic partners.
  • Oversee tendering processes and commercial negotiations.
  • Actively contribute to the company’s visibility and market positioning.

Operations & Service Quality

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure service commitments are met.
  • Implement efficient, performance-oriented operational processes.
  • Ensure high service quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Guarantee operational compliance with local regulations and group standards.
  • Maintain rigorous management of internal files and procedures.

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations as well as internal group policies.
  • Identify and manage operational, financial, and reputational risks.
  • Implement appropriate control and risk management mechanisms.

Human Resources Management

  • Recruit, develop, and retain talent to support the company’s growth.
  • Define clear roles, objectives, and performance indicators for teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-oriented work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor law and HR best practices.

Candidate Profile

  • University degree in insurance, finance, management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience, ideally in insurance, finance, or professional services.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environments and service operations.
  • Proven ability to grow a business and drive organizational growth.
  • Excellent leadership, financial management, and business development skills.
  • Ability to operate in an international environment and interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in French and English.
