Aim 1. Expand Access to Quality, Inclusive, and Gender-Responsive Education: To dismantle barriers to learning by promoting equitable access to quality education across both formal and non-formal pathways, ensuring every girl can transition successfully from primary through secondary levels in safe, inclusive environments. 2. Ensure Holistic Safety, Protection, and Well-being: To prevent and respond to violence, abuse, and harmful practices by providing comprehensive protection services and safe spaces, ensuring that every girl’s dignity and rights are upheld within her home, school, and community. 3. Foster Agency, Leadership, and Civic Participation: To equip girls with the life skills, confidence, and mentorship necessary to exercise their agency and assume leadership roles, ensuring their meaningful participation in decision-making processes at all levels of society. 4. Advance Economic Empowerment and Self-Reliance: To promote long-term economic agency and innovation through digital and financial literacy, vocational skills training, and entrepreneurship, empowering girls and young women to build sustainable livelihoods and micro-enterprises. 5. Transform Systems and Shift Social Norms: To drive lasting societal change by influencing policy frameworks, shifting discriminatory social norms, and mobilizing community-led advocacy to ensure that girls’ rights are protected and prioritized in every sphere of influence.

Context

Girls Education Mission International is seeking passionate online volunteers to promote its fundraising campaign, which supports initiatives in girls’ education and menstrual hygiene. The goal of this assignment is to mobilize resources and expand awareness by leveraging digital platforms to reach potential donors and supporters. Volunteers will play a key role in strengthening the organization’s online presence by developing clear, impactful messaging and promoting fundraising initiatives across social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Through this effort, the organization aims to generate increased support for its programs and improve access to quality education for vulnerable girls in Nigeria

Task description

As Online Volunteers for Communications and Social Media, you will support Girls Education Mission International by designing and implementing a focused digital campaign to promote its fundraising project. This includes developing content strategy and crafting compelling, emotive messages tailored for platforms such as LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook. You will create engaging storytelling content that highlights the challenges faced by vulnerable girls in rural Nigeria and demonstrates how education and menstrual hygiene support can transform their lives. In addition, you will carry out digital outreach by sharing campaign materials within your personal and professional networks, as well as relevant online communities, to increase visibility, drive engagement and attract potential donors. You will also contribute to awareness building by educating the public on the importance of girls’ education as a pathway to long-term empowerment. Please note that this role is strictly communications-focused; online volunteers are not required to donate funds or contact third parties on behalf of the organization.

Assignment requirements

Required Experience

The ideal volunteer should demonstrate a strong passion for social impact, particularly in the areas of girls’ education and community development. Experience or interest in fundraising, crowdfunding, or digital advocacy is highly desirable. Volunteers should have an active presence on social media and be comfortable creating and sharing content across multiple platforms. Strong writing and communication skills in English are essential, as the role involves developing persuasive and engaging messages for diverse audiences. Creativity, initiative and the ability to connect with online communities will be key to success in this role.
