Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Namibia?

We Offer

A traineeship of 6 months in 2026 within the Press, Political and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Namibia,. The tentative start date is September 2026.

The Section of Political, Press and Information is responsible for EU coordination, political reporting, and public diplomacy in Namibia. Within this framework, the trainee will have a strong focus on digital communication, media engagement, and the promotion of EU priorities, particularly green diplomacy, contributing to enhancing the visibility of the EU Delegation through strategic communication, outreach activities, and content production tailored to local audiences.

Main Tasks

  • Support the Delegation’s social media activities, including content planning, drafting, publishing, and monitoring engagement
  • Create digital content, including visuals and short-form videos, to promote EU policies and activities, with a focus on green diplomacy
  • Support the organisation and visibility of public diplomacy and media events, including preparation of communication materials and on-site coverage
  • Assist in the development and implementation of communication campaigns aligned with EU priorities with a focus on implementing our green diplomacy campaign “Trees for Tomorrow”
  • Draft communication products such as press releases, web articles, speeches, and talking points
  • Conduct targeted research to support communication outputs and ensure relevance to the Namibian context
  • Contribute, as needed, to EU coordination tasks and political reporting.

We Look For

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • University degree (minimum bachelor’s or equivalent) in Political Science, Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences
  • Proven experience in social media management and digital content creation (including basic video production/editing)
  • Good understanding of Namibian society, media landscape, and current affairs
  • Interest in and/or knowledge of environmental and climate-related (green diplomacy) issues
  • Ability to work independently and in a team in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Candidates must have less than one year of professional experience after their graduation by the signing of the Traineeship agreement. (other traineeships or student jobs or volunteering works carried out during university or after graduation are not considered as professional experience).

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens From EU Member States

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
