Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manual therapy, rehabilitation, preventative care, and sports performance. The Athletic Trainer will work directly with athletes and active individuals, providing high-quality hands-on treatment, guiding them through exercise-based rehabilitation programs, and performance oriented training.
Hours:
Monday – Friday
8:00AM – 3:30PM
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
- Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer credential required.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the state of New York.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or performance-based setting preferred.
- Proficient in manual therapy and IASTM techniques.
- Strong understanding of musculoskeletal anatomy and exercise science.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- CPR/AED certification required.
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desirable):
- Experience with Strength & Conditioning programming and implementation, or a background working closely with S&C staff/coaches.
- Exposure to or interest in integrating performance enhancement and Strength & Conditioning methods into athlete rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates medical care of intercollegiate student-athletes consistent with the Center of Excellence Athletic Training Guidelines. Care includes the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions of injuries and/or illnesses.
- Makes independent and appropriate decisions regarding therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercises, manual therapy treatments and return to play.
- Perform manual therapy techniques to address soft tissue dysfunction and improve musculoskeletal function.
- Provide instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and related modalities.
- Design and implement individualized exercise rehabilitation programs.
- Conduct assessments to identify musculoskeletal deficiencies, range of motion limitations, and other performance-limiting factors.
- Implements measures to prevent injuries and prepare athletes for practice and competition, including taping, bracing, therapeutic exercise, movement screens, and wearable technology.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient evaluations, treatments, and progress notes.
- Educate clients on injury prevention, proper movement mechanics, and performance optimization strategies.
- Communicates professionally and effectively across but not limited to, all student-athletes, athletic training staff, physicians, dietitian, mental health clinicians, and coaches.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical and training environment.
- Stay current with emerging techniques, continuing education, and licensure requirements.
