About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Data Steward to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and ensuring the quality of data that supports our internal freight tool, while handling client requests and keeping datasets accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and validate data from multiple internal and external sources to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Manage and maintain datasets, ensuring data is kept current and always meets quality standards.
- Write and optimise SQL queries to extract, update, and manipulate data from relational databases.
- Develop Python scripts to automate data processes, routine updates, and data quality checks.
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve Power BI dashboards and reports for business stakeholders.
- Serve as the point of contact for client and internal data requests, triaging, prioritising, and implementing changes accordingly.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues in collaboration with relevant teams, ensuring root causes are addressed.
- Document data processes, definitions, and workflows to support data governance and knowledge sharing.
- Support ad hoc data requests and contribute to ongoing data management and strategy initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a data steward or similar role.
- Proven track record of working with data across its full lifecycle, including maintaining data quality, ensuring timely updates, handling client requests, and implementing data changes accordingly
Technical Skills
- Proficient in SQL: able to write complex queries, joins, aggregations, and subqueries.
- Solid working knowledge of Python for data analysis (pandas, NumPy, matplotlib or similar libraries).
- Hands-on experience with Power BI: including data modelling, DAX, and publishing interactive reports.
- Comfortable working with structured datasets; familiarity with data warehouses or cloud platforms is a plus.
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail with a meticulous approach to data accuracy and quality control.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly document processes and communicate data issues to stakeholders.
- Process-oriented mindset with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise multiple requests efficiently.
- Self-motivated and reliable, able to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines while maintaining high data quality standards
