The Material Handler/Fork Lift driver position is responsible for management of inventory, supporting utility workers to help
deliver raw materials to the bag lines at the best efficiency possible, and loading and unloading shipments.
This position reports to the Warehouse Manager.
Material physical handling and booking in the internal ERP system
– Preparing of material for production following the production plan
– Uploading and unloading of material and finished goods
– Process physical stock counts
– Packaging, labelling (identification) and storing material into warehouse
– Feeding production lines with material
• Follow all Key Operating Procedures, including but not limited to:
o Company and facility Policies
o Safety – Use of proper PPE; adherence to all applicable safety rules
o SOPs – Methods for performing work
o SSOP/Good Housekeeping standards (keep machines and area sanitized and clean)
o Good Manufacturing Practices
o Food/Safety Security and BRC standards
o HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
o Food Regulatory and Customer Specifications
• Must be proficient in inventory management and accuracy
• When the finished goods staging lane is full, Material Handler will move product to the proper rack and
inventory locations
• Supply all raw materials to the prep and staging area for the Utility workers
• Assist operators and QA to assure that quality standards are upheld and that any suspect or defective
product is appropriately placed on hold for the Quality Facilitator’s review and decision
• Work as a valuable team member throughout the production room to accomplish the business goals:
o Help inspector/packers and bag machine operators as needed
o Assist and work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and technical resources to ensure that issues are being
addressed to optimize the performance of the line
o Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements
• Communicate in a positive and respectful manner to resolve all issues
• Complete all documentation accurately
• Ask for help when the need arises
• Assist in the training of other personnel in the material handling department
- Matric / Grade 12 and a valid Forklift license
- Basic computer skills, warehouse management software
- Forklift certification preferred and the ability to work safety and effectively with minimal supervision
