SUMMARY:
A well-established and prestigious wine estate based in Somerset West is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Forklift Driver to join their team.
POSITION INFO:
Job Purpose:
To safely operate a forklift to move, load, and store wine products and materials within the warehouse, ensuring efficient stock handling, accuracy, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a forklift to load, offload, and move stock
- Ensure accurate handling and storage of goods
- Assist with stock control and inventory processes
- Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) principles
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations
- Assist with general warehouse duties when required
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Valid forklift operator license/certification
- 2–3 years’ experience operating a forklift
- Experience in a warehouse, logistics, or wine/beverage environment (advantageous)
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations and stock control
- Good communication skills
Skills & Competencies:
- Safe and efficient forklift operation
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic numeracy and record-keeping ability
- Ability to follow instructions
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Team player with a strong work ethic
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse and cellar environment (temperature variations, noise, machinery)
- Physically demanding role
- May require shift work, overtime, and long hours
