Job Summary

The FMCG Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales performance, achieving revenue targets, and expanding market share within a fast-paced consumer goods environment. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, capable of analysing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, and building long-term client relationships. The position involves leading and developing a high-performing sales team, managing key accounts, and collaborating with internal departments to align sales strategies with broader business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Business Development
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and growth targets.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to inform strategy.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities to expand market share.
  • Drive innovative sales initiatives and product positioning strategies.
  • Team Leadership & Performance Management
  • Lead, manage, and motivate the sales team to deliver high performance.
  • Set, monitor, and review sales targets, KPIs, and team performance metrics.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance sales capabilities and product knowledge.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and results-driven performance.

Client & Account Management

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Manage and grow existing client portfolios, with a focus on key accounts.
  • Conduct regular key account reviews to identify growth opportunities and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Partner with clients to understand business needs and provide tailored solutions.

Performance Tracking & Reporting

  • Monitor, analyse, and report on sales performance, KPIs, and market data.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts, budgets, and management reports.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine sales strategies and improve outcomes.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and other departments to align sales strategies.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination across teams to support service delivery and customer retention.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Sales Manager role (preferably within FMCG).
  • Proven ability to lead a team and consistently deliver against sales targets.
  • Strong background in business development and key account management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical ability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Relevant qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field (advantageous)

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: R45 000,00 – R50 000,00 per month
