A leading transport and logistics operator is looking for a Fleet Controller to play a critical role in driving day-to-day operational excellence. Positioned at the heart of fleet execution, this role ensures the seamless coordination of vehicles, drivers, and schedules to keep operations running efficiently and on time.
The successful candidate will take ownership of real-time fleet monitoring, proactively resolve operational challenges and maintain high standards of safety and compliance. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic control room environment and enjoys being at the forefront of operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Operations & Coordination
- Monitor and manage daily fleet schedules to ensure on-time departures and arrivals
- Track vehicle movements and adjust plans to minimise delays and disruptions
- Coordinate drivers and fleet resources to ensure optimal utilisation
- Maintain constant communication with drivers and operational teams
Driver & Trip Readiness
- Ensure drivers are fully prepared with required documentation and equipment
- Verify compliance with operational and safety standards before departure
- Support drivers with guidance during trips when operational issues arise
Operational Control & Administration
- Capture and update real-time operational data, including delays and incidents
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation
- Ensure all trip-related documentation is completed and filed correctly
Incident & Breakdown Management
- Coordinate responses to breakdowns and operational disruptions
- Liaise with technical teams to resolve issues efficiently
- Ensure accurate reporting of incidents and accidents
Customer Service
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
- Ensure issues are logged, tracked, and resolved within required timelines
- Provide feedback to internal teams and stakeholders
Requirements:
- Grade 12 minimum
- 3–5 years’ experience in a transport, logistics, or operations environment
- Experience in fleet coordination, scheduling, or control room operations is advantageous
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and coordination ability
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office and operational systems)
