About the Role
A leading transport and logistics company based in Bedfordview is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and results-driven Fleet Controller to join its operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating fleet activities, ensuring efficient vehicle utilization, maintaining service levels, and supporting daily transport operations across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage daily fleet operations to ensure on-time deliveries and collections.
- Coordinate with drivers, customers, and internal departments regarding operational requirements.
- Track and monitor vehicle movements using fleet management and tracking systems.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, transport legislation, and safety standards.
- Plan and optimize routes to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Monitor fuel consumption, driver performance, and vehicle productivity.
- Resolve operational issues, delays, breakdowns, and customer queries promptly.
- Maintain accurate operational records, trip documentation, and fleet reports.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, servicing schedules, and repairs.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance reports.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Relevant qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, or a related field will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Fleet Controller, Transport Controller, or similar role.
- Previous experience within the transport and logistics industry is essential.
- Sound knowledge of fleet tracking systems and transport management software.
- Understanding of transport regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work after hours and on weekends when operationally required.
