Fixed Term: Controller Accounts Receivable

Please note that this is a fixed term role.

JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of the Controller: Accounts Receivable is to oversee the accounts receivable function by managing the full debtor lifecycle from accurate billing and timely collections to customer credit risk management and reconciliations. The role ensures optimal cash flow, minimal bad debt exposure, compliance with SARS and internal financial policies, and supports the Accounts Receivable Manager in strategic analysis, reporting, and continuous process improvement.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Timely receipt and processing of supplier invoices and statements.
• Ensure compliance with SARS standards for all documentation.
• Resolve account queries promptly.

• Perform accurate and timely reconciliations of supplier accounts.
• Address discrepancies and queries on accounts within 30 days.
• Ensure correct ageing of accounts for reporting.
• Ensure overdue accounts report distributed within 2 days post-month-end.
• Prepare supplier accruals for month-end reporting.
• Assist with the implementation of a paperless payment process.
• Assist with onboarding of new suppliers
• Identify and minimize risk in the supplier payment process.
• Compile and distribute 60 & 90-day reports.
• Prepare cash forecasts, including customer collections.
• Ensure accurate billing and alignment with rate cards.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).

Experience:

• Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in a financial environment as a Credit Controller
• Advanced Excel
• Experience within logistics, distribution, or FMCG preferred.

Required Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of accounting financial principles and practices.

• Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.

• In-depth knowledge of AR principles, IFRS basics, and credit risk management.

• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Syspro, or similar).

• Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
