AltGen is looking for a Finance Manager to join a renewable energy company based in Johannesburg. The role will manage all financial activities, including financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting review, finance operations, treasury activities, procurement and tax related activities of the Company, as well as be responsible for payroll, financial reporting, compliance.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
- Assist with the accounting review, maintenance of IFRIC 12 model, month end closing and reporting in the company's consolidation tool, SMART and reporting and analysis tool
- Communicate regularly and openly with the Business control team in head office and other relevant stakeholders providing analysis and explanations on the numbers reported
- Timely and accurate reporting required by law and all stakeholders
- Accurate and timely reporting of month end information on SMART (Reporting system)
- Oversight of Reporting models and ensuring integrity of information
- Oversight of IFRIC 12 model ensuring integrity of information
- Suggestions for improvements in the reporting process
- Reporting of all SG&A, COI waterfalls, FTE and other reporting on MDT
- Variance analysis and reporting to Group with detailed explanations for variances
- Compilation of Monthly Best Estimate and analysis against Budget
- Annual Budget and Medium-Term Plan preparation
Tax and Accounting Compliance
- Oversee accounting function
- Review monthly, balance sheet reconciliations, P&L reviews, Cash flow and Net Debt
- Scrutinize financial information produced by the team and prepare for reporting to Group
- Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of month end information on SMART at WD3
- Compilation of Monthly Best Estimate and analysis against Budget.
- Improvement, automation and standardization of internal working files
- Liaise with SMART experts on set up of processes and templates
- Review CoA against Group standards and implement appropriate changes
- Annual Budget and Medium-Term Plan preparation
- Tax compliance in all respects including but not restricted to VAT, provisional tax, income tax and dividend tax filing
- Implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures for the finance function
- Organise in conjunction with the CFO the yearly financial audit including Review of AFS & liaising with External audit, as required. and any other audit engagements where applicable
- Liaise with internal audit teams
General Finance Compliance:

- To ensure compliance to internal control procedures in all company transactions related to but not limited to contract implementation, maintenance of books and records and accounting accurately for all transactions
- Provide support in managing the financial, legal and administrative aspects of the project agreements
- Assist in procurement and administrative function in as far as it relates to Finance
- Familiarity with accounting software and programs; (SAP and implementation thereof would be a plus)
- Establish and implement vertical/horizontal communication within the team to ensure members are well informed and remain engaged with the business
- Monitoring KSP obligations as per Facilities agreement
- Support the Social Economic Development reporting-
- Assist in financial reporting for the Community based shareholder
- Manage Service Level Agreements
- Challenge operations for all matters impacting Finance matters
- Being accountable for cash management and short-term cash flow forecast
- Monitoring the Financial / Fiscal risks of the Business
- Other adhoc finance tasks for the company as required
Requirements:
- CA (SA) professional registration
- 6- 8 years post audit experience
- Articles at Big 4 or second tier audit firms
- Strong technical IFRS understanding (IFRIC 12 experience a plus)
- Experience with SAP is a plus
