Purpose

Support the Finance and Operations functions by assisting in daily accounting tasks and participating in key post-trade processes. This includes ensuring accurate financial records, timely settlements, and effective coordination with custodians, brokers, and internal teams to maintain smooth trade operations and minimize settlement risk.

Responsibilities

1.Finance:

a. Record the daily journal entries on the system.

b. Assist in handling and monitoring accounts payables, receivables and staff accounts (loans & advances – mobiles – corporate credit cards – travel expense -checks).

c.Assist in bank reconciliations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

d.Maintain accurate supporting documents for the handled entries.

e.Maintain the department records and filing.

2.Brokerage Operations:

a.Prioritize work based on settlement cycles and custodian deadlines.

b.Maintain the database of custodian sub‐agent settlement instructions, updating and adding accounts in a timely manner.

c.Advise management of potential risk items (failing trades, aged break items, etc.) which may involve a claim against EFG‐Hermes Kenya.

d.Pre‐match and settle all equity trades in a timely and accurate manner.

e.Liaise between the firm’s global trading desks, execution and clearing counterparties (including prime brokers) regarding trade discrepancies.

f.Resolve unmatched trades, fails and related settlements issues with the clients.

g.Investigate, resolve and document all trade queries and failed settlements.

h.Respond to clients’ queries regarding outstanding trades.

i.Assist in assessing the performance of custodians in trade settlement processes and trade support.

j.Maintain up‐to‐date files of settlement practices in each market.

k.Establish and maintain strong working relationships with trading brokers and assist in tracking broker delivery performance and service standards.

I.Responsible for invoicing, reconciliation, and follow‐up on pending custodial and regulatory payments.

3.Ensure compliance with all applicable AML/CTF rules and regulations as required in the conduct of the role.

4.Ensure timely completion of all relevant AML/CTF training provided by the Group.

5.Ensure response to AML, CTF & sanctions inquiries in a timely manner.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  2. 1–2 years of experience in Finance, Operations, or Brokerage Operations.
  3. Strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
  4. Basic understanding of the trade lifecycle (trade capture, confirmation, clearing, settlement).
  5. Strong analytical and investigation skills for resolving unmatched trades, settlement fails, and reconciliation issues.
  6. Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  7. Strong command of English (written and verbal).
  8. Strong communication skills, including active listening.
  9. Ability to build strong working relationships with internal teams, brokers, custodians, and clients.
  10. Strong problem‑solving abilities with good judgment on escalation.
  11. High commitment to quality, accuracy, and well‑structured work output.
  12. High attention to detail and precision in handling financial and operational data.
